SoAMAZING MANUKA HONEY!

Manuka honey is made by bees that pollinate the flowers of the Manuka bush, also known as the tea tree, in New Zealand. It is one of the most beneficial forms of honey in the world.

This healing honey has been known to New Zealand's indigenous cultures for thousands of years. Manuka honey contains anti-bacterial properties and in a study conducted at the University of Sydney killed nearly every types of bacteria it was exposed to, including antibiotic-resistant “superbugs”. In 2004 Britain's National Health Service (NHS) licensed the use of medical grade Manuka honey as a wound dressing, confirming that Manuka honey has some seemingly miraculous properties.

Unique Manuka Factor or commonly known as UMF is the only worldwide standard in identifying and measuring the antibacterial strength or quality of this honey. It is a guarantee that the honey being sold has the special UMF antibacterial property and a UMF rating of 10 is the minimum recognized. What separates UMF Manuka from other Manuka varieties is that it has both the natural hydrogen peroxide and its own natural UMF antibacterial property, which greatly enhances its effectiveness. The UMF property is very stable, unlike the hydrogen peroxide antibacterial property common in most honey, which is easily destroyed by heat, light and certain enzymes in the body.

What are the some of the greatest Manuka Honey uses?

- To treat low stomach acid, acid reflux and SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth);

- To help treat acne and eczema;

- To help improve wound healing in acute cases, pain relief in burn patients and decrease inflammatory response in such patients;

- To help cure gingivitis and periodontal disease, due to its superior antimicrobial properties.

- To help with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and IBD (Inflammatory bowel disease);

-To help with Sore Throats and immunity;

-To help with allergies and sinusitis;

-To boost energy;

-To improve skin tone and texture;

-To help restful sleep.

Things to keep in mind before you use Manuka Honey:

-Honey in general is not suitable for babies under 12 months of age because it is a known source of the bacteria spores that cause botulism;

-Diabetics should also avoid or limit their intake of honey due to the high glucose content;

-Not all Manuka honeys are equal, so it can be hard to know what you're getting. Active Manuka honey has stronger properties than regular Manuka honey.

-There are no known side effects of active Manuka honey when used internally, unless you are allergic to honey. Occasionally, when active Manuka honey is used on an external wound, it can sting because of its high activity level. In this case, use regular Manuka honey instead.

How to use it?

-It can be applied topically to the skin for skin infections, cuts and bites;

-Take a spoon orally to help soothe the digestive tract and the throat or simply to boost your energy and maintain general health;

-Use it as you would use any other kind of honey.

I personally don’t like the taste of honey in general, but intrigued by the properties of this wonder honey, I tasted it and SoLoved it (it’s SoSweet and SoDelicious) and now I am hooked and take a spoonful daily:-)!
